Merlin’s Eren Vanderiviere and Cottam’s Rob Quick won feature races for the second week in a row while Ridgetown’s Dale Glassford and Leamington’s Joel Dick won for the second time this season on Saturday night at South Buxton Raceway.
But the highlight of the night was in the Patriot Sprint Tour’s Canadian mid-season championship where Jamie Collard of Burford make a dramatic inside move coming out of turn four on the final lap to steal the win away Chris Jones, of Demorestville, who had led the first 24¾ laps.
Vanderiviere completed a three-race sweep of the Windride Transportation Sport Stocks for the first time in his career, with his second straight feature checkered flag and third of the season.
Quick also made it back-to-back trips to the Winner’s Circle in the Tirecraft Mini-Mods.
Glassford and Wallaceburg’s Mike Lewis ran virtually door-to-door for the first 12 laps before the Ridgetown driver pulled away to his second UMP Late Model feature win of the season.
Dick barely missed a multi-car wreck early in the Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modifieds and went on to post his second feature win of the season.
And in the Bombers’ class, Blenheim’s Ryan Bonner won his second straight and fourth feature of the season.
There was rain all around the area late Saturday afternoon-early evening but South Buxton was spared until sprinkles started falling around 11:30 p.m., moments after Glassford took the final checkered flag of the night.
