South Buxton Raceway has announced its plans for a grand finale to the 2012 racing season this coming weekend.
It will be Twin Title Nights, with Season Championships in three classes on Friday and the eighth annual Canadian Fall Shootout on Saturday.
And there will be a special weekend admission package for fans to attend both race nights for a reduced price.
Friday night will feature season championship races in the Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modifieds, Glencoe Auto Recyclers UMP Late Models and the Tirecraft Comp 4s.
There will also be non-points races in the Windride Transportation Sport Stocks, which ran their championship race on Sept. 8.
Friday’s action will start with Windride Sport Stocks’ heat races followed by the 20-lap Tirecraft Comp 4 season championship race.
Next up will be heats for the Schinkels Modifieds, Tirecraft Comp 4s and the Glencoe Auto Recyclers Late Models.
The Modifieds and Late Models will run their dashes before intermission.
First up after the break will be a 10-lap feature for the Windride Transportation Sport Stocks, their final race of the season.
The Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modifieds season championship will be up next, a 25-lap race.
The Comp 4s return for a 10-lap feature to complete their season.
And Friday’s program will be climaxed by the Glencoe Auto Recyclers UMP Late Models 25-lap season championship race.
The eighth annual Canadian Fall Shootout, sponsored by Blazin’ BBQ Ribhouse, will feature the UMP Late Models and Modifieds along with the TUSA Mod Lites.
The order for the heats will be the UMP Modifieds, the TUSA Mod Lites and the UMP Late Models.
‘B’ Mains for the UMP Modifieds and Late Models will be run before intermission.
The Shootout ‘A’ Mains will be 35-lappers, with the Modifieds first and the Late Models the last race of the program.
The Mod Lites will run a 20-lap feature between the Shootout ‘A’ Mains.
Track promoters Blake and Anne Outhouse announced a special two-day admission for fans.
The two-day pass is $30 for adults (ages 17-59); $25 for teens (ages 13-16) and seniors (60-over); and $10 for kids (ages 6-12).
The single day cost for Friday is the usual $12 adults, $10 teens-seniors and $5 kids.
The single day cost for Saturday’s Shootout is $25 adults, $20 teens-seniors and $8 kids.
On the pit side, there will also be a two-day admission pass for $50 per person.
The single day pit admission is $25 on Friday and $35 on Saturday. VIP pit passes will not be accepted on Saturday.
Gates open at 5 p.m. on Friday and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Blazin BBQ Ribhouse will have a barbecue on the grandstand side Saturday.
For out-of-town race teams and fans, there will be raw camping at the race track (no electrical or water hook ups).
And for those who prefer a more comfortable rest, the Comfort Inn, located at the corner of Bloomfield Road and Richmond Street in Chatham, is offering reduced rates for guests who mention ‘South Buxton Raceway’ when making reservations (519-352-5500).
The Twin Title Nights was made necessary because of rain midway through the Sept. 8 race night, postponing the Comp 4 championship to this past Saturday, to run with the Modifieds and Late Models.
But weather forced track officials to postpone Saturday’s races, setting the stage for an exciting two-night show this Friday and Saturday to end the 2012 season.
