Bernie Rombouts, pictured on the right, passed away on Friday in Windsor hospital. He is shown with Blake Outhouse, left, Brad McLeod and John Schinkels after the 2010 Brian Outhouse memorial race.

Bernie Rombouts, a long-time worker at South Buxton Raceway, passed away in Windsor hospital on Friday night.

Rombouts, brother of SBR promoter Anne Rombouts, worked behind the scenes at the track as well as wrapping many of the race cars fans see at the track over the years at Outhouse Image & Design.

He also drove push-vehicles on Sprint Car shows at South Buxton and Ohsweken.

All of the management, staff, drivers, race teams and fans extend our deepest sympathies to the Rombouts family.

Friends are invited to gather for a time of fellowship and lunch at the McKinlay Reception Centre, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Tuesday August 13, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

At Bernie’s request, cremation has taken place. Donations in memory of Bernie to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
