Andrew Reaume remains perfect for 2009 and Chris Van De Wiele made it two-for-two in feature races on Saturday night at South Buxton Raceway.
Reaume won the heat, dash and feature races for the second straight week in the Ultimate Sandblasting & Coatings UMP Late Models. He has also won seven straight regular season feature races, dating back to last July 26.
Van De Wiele started at the back of the Schinkel’s Gourmet Meats UMP Modifieds and stayed there until just past halfway when his car came to life. He passed Jim Dale Jr. of Shrewsbury for the lead with three laps to go.
Denis DeSerrano of Cottam won his first feature since the 2007 championship race in the Four Seasons Driver Education Comp 4 class.
Eric Vanderiviere took the Sun Parlour Trailers Sport Stocks feature, which started with a crash in the first corner that involved more than half of the starting field. Doris Lajeunesse of Essex was the only other car to finish on the lead lap.

South Buxton Raceway Public RelationsWhile the Opening Night feature wins by Blenheim’s Andrew Reaume and Charing Cross’ Nate McNally were hardly unexpected, Saturday’s other two feature winners certainly raised some eyebrows.

While Van De Wiele is certainly no stranger to Victory Lane - he won the 2007 championship race - he was coming off a year in which he didn’t win a feature race until the second last night of the regular season. He finished seventh in the final points and scratched from the championship race.

South Buxton Raceway Public RelationsOpening Night came one week later than scheduled, but there was still plenty of fireworks leftover from the Victoria Holiday weekend as a near capacity crowd packed the South Buxton Raceway grandstands to welcome the 2009 stock car racing season.
Three drivers - Andrew Reaume, Chris Van De Wiele and Nate McNally - all enjoyed perfect nights on SM Freight.com Night while Ken Morrison made the left turn into Victory Lane for the first time in six years.
And local sprint car fans were on their feet as Adam West of Ridgetown brought the Batman machine home to victory with Chatham’s John Riegling not far behind in third.
