Glassford, Coulter named Canadian UMP DIRTcar champions for ’08
Two of South Buxton Raceway’s steadiest performers this past season were rewarded for their consistency as Ridgetown’s Dale Glassford and Leamington’s Curtis Coulter were named Canadian UMP DIRTcar champions for 2008.
Glassford won his first Canadian UMP DIRTcar Late Model championship by collecting 866 points in the final national standings. The defending national champion Andrew Reaume of Blenheim finished 71 points behind Glassford in second.
Coulter won his second consecutive Canadian UMP DIRTcar Modified championship with 724 points, 43 ticks better than second place Clayton Smith of Woodslee.
The champions will each receive $1,000 (US) and a trophy at the UMP DIRTcar banquet in Springfield, Ill., on Jan. 10.
Points for the DIRTcar championship are compiled from feature races in all sanctioned UMP races at Canadian tracks in 2008, including the regular South Buxton season and the Castrol Late Model Shootout/Advantage Warehouse Modified Fall Blowout on Sept. 27.
Glassford and Coulter mirrored each other in consistency. Although neither driver won a feature race, both posted four second-place finishes and nine top-5s in 11 features in their respective divisions. Read the rest of this entry »
